Report of the Forum Finance Committee
Met
1) We reviewed an issue from Verghese Chirayath regarding university policy on not granting monetary reward for publications in the year of retirement for a faculty member. The committee felt that the issue was not one of fringe benefit, but of salary, and elected to forward the issue to the Forum Committee on Rank, Tenure, and Salary.
2) Jon Ivec reviewed his Financial Update presentation with us in detail. He has been giving the presentation to many organizations in the Carroll community so that everyone is aware of the troubled financial situation that we are in.
3) No progress on the teaching after retirement issue.
4) In an effort to monitor JCU’s benefit package with other Jesuit universities new data regarding other universities may not be available until the fall. The Association of Jesuit Universities does not update their information annually.
