The
committee on Academic Policies met three times (September 25, October 7,
October 13th). We are
currently holding hearings on two proposals. The first proposal is to remove
the Pass/Fail option from all core courses. The second proposal is to change the
first year drop policy to require that first year students must discuss action
on dropping a course with their advisor, assistant dean or a member of the
academic advising office before dropping and reinstating the academic advisor
discussion/approval form. We have met with the chairs of the departments of HS,
PO, and RL to discuss their proposal for an IS (Interdisciplinary Studies)
designation and are discussing the proposal for an Undergraduate Concentration
on Italian Studies. We are also
gathering information concerning changing the drop policy from the 13th
week to an earlier time in the semester.
